Prof. Dr.-Ing. Volker Wesling 
Profile:
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Volker Wesling, born in 1962,
studied and obtained his doctorate in
Clausthal/Germany before he worked in the mechanical
engineering industry for nine years,
amongst other positions in the former Mannesmann
group of companies. He was offered a chair
as a university professor in 2002 and has been the
Vice-President of TU Clausthal since November
2009. He has been a Member of the Board at the
Hanover Laser Centre (LZH) since December 2009
and has thus strengthened, amongst other activities,
LZH’s orientation as an important partner
in the network of Lower Saxony Technical Universities
(NTH) as well as the research into engineering
sciences at LZH. In addition, he has been the
Spokesman of the Board of the Clausthal Centre
for Materials Engineering (CZM) since 2010, a
Member of the Board of the Lower Saxony Production
Technology Centre (PZN) since 2011 and
a Member of the Research Council of the Research
Association of DVS since October 2011.
Due to his scientific activities within the framework
of numerous research projects and due to
his industrial activities, he has many years of experience
in the field of production and fabrication
technology, particular in the processing of different
materials by means of joining technology.
