Status of the development of an attachment nozzle
for MAG welding with a dual gas flow
Welding and Cutting 7 (2008) [6] 348-353 Specialist Articles
Abstract:
Investigations into the use of an attachment nozzle for metal-active
gas welding with a dual gas glow are presented. The nozzle
attached to the conventional shielding gas nozzle supplies a
shielding gas flow which surrounds the primary gas flow and
consists, for example, of good-value carbon dioxide. It is thus
possible to achieve substantial savings on the shielding gas for
the metal-active gas welding process which mainly consists of
argon in most cases. The investigations have shown that, if the
right attachment nozzle is chosen and the settings are correct,
the welding process takes place in a stable way and a satisfactory
weld quality is achieved.
