Welding procedure specifications in accordance with ASME Section IX - successful international production

For the export of plant and equipment engineering there is no way round the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. Public authorities, operators, planners and investors all demand compliance for pressure equipment in the USA, Canada and many other countries. The ASME Code is also frequently applied in conjunction with the European Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC. When configuring and producing to the relevant ASME Code, the ASME Section IX for the qualification of the welding procedure is also to be applied. The article describes the contexts and the practical implementation with the assistance of software.
