MSc. Ing. Gissel Velarde

MSc. Ing. Gissel Velarde, born 1980 in La Paz/Bolivia, studied Systems Engineering at the Bolivian Catholic University, where she finished her studies with honours. In 2005, she worked as Technical Consultant/IT Solutions at Hansa Ltda., Information Technology and Communications Division. In 2006, she was awarded by the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) with a Scholarship for a master’s degree in Electronic Systems and Engineering Management at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences. Her master’s project was dedicated to the analysis of welding parameters and quality data for the purpose of parameter optimisation, trend analysis and preventive maintenance of Miebach’s welding machines. After finishing her master’s degree, she joined the electrical department of the company Hugo Miebach GmbH, Welding Machines, in 2008. In 2010, she received a Best Paper Award nomination for the talk "Dynamic Pattern Extraction of Parameters in Laser Welding Process", at the Industrial Conference on Data Mining in Berlin.
