Prof. Dr.-Ing. Steffen Keitel

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Steffen Keitel, born in 1958 in Halle (S.), studied from 1980 to 1985 at the Technical University of Magdeburg, specialising in production engineering at the Central Institute for Welding Technology of the GDR, ZIS Halle. Afterwards, he worked as a research fellow and later as a scientific assistant in the working group "Special Welding Processes" and received his doctorate in 1988. In 1992, he qualified as a welding engineer and was appointed head of the department for materials testing and beam technology and later also head of research and development at SLV Halle GmbH. On 01.01.1996 he was appointed sole managing director of SLV Halle GmbH. He still holds this position today. From 1999 to 2013, he was Managing Director of GSI Gesellschaft für Schweißtechnik International mbH. Furthermore, he took over the management of SLV Duisburg from 2003 to 2011. In 2009, he was appointed honorary professor for beam technologies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Chemnitz University of Technology. Prof. Keitel is a member of the Research Council of the Research Association "Welding and Allied Processes", Chairman of the Coordination Committee "Welding on Railway Vehicles" and Chairman of the ECWRV European Committee for Welding of Railway Vehicles.
