Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Thomas Kannengießer, born in 1971, studied Mechanical Engineering with a Mater...Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Thomas Kannengießer, born in 1971, studied Mechanical Engineering with a Materials Engineering and Testing background at the University of Magdeburg. From 1997 to 1999, he was a doctoral candidate at the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin and achieved his doctoral degree at the Joining and Beam Technology Institute of the University of Magdeburg with the subject Investigations into the Evolution of Welding-Specific Stresses and Deformations at Variable Restraint Conditions in the Component Weld Test". Since 2000, he has been a scientific staff member at BAM. During this time, he has been in charge of numerous research and development projects relating to the safety of welded components and has coached a great number of PhD students. His particular subject areas include welding metallurgy issues as well as loading and cracking analyses for welded joints. In 2011, Prof. Kannengießer habilitated in the field of welding engineering. He has authored and co-authored around 100 papers as well as 2 books. He is Professor for construction and calculation of join connections at the University of Magdeburg since April 2014.
